The Gospel of Thomas

Jesus said, "If those who lead you say, 'See, the Kingdom is
in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they
say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you.
Rather, the Kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you.
When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and
you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living
Father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty
and it is you who are that poverty."

George,

I think maybe learning and knowing who we really are is the very reason we exist in this earthly form. Thomas wasn't so bad after all.

Peace,

If we know ourselves we will know that God has, through the cross transformed us into new creatures, Godly creatures worthy of love, and capable of love, apart from the things we have done. In knowing that, we can love ourselves and by also seeing God in others, we can also love them in the same way....and that is where the power exists to be His witnesses to those who don't know.....yet...in our love for those around us.

Well, I know myself and I gotta say that I am pretty messed up at times. So, I am glad that I am accepted regardless.

I've always enjoyed the gospel of Thomas. I guess most real theologians think it is just mindless drivel. But, I think there is a lot of wisdom in there. Just like I think there's a lot of wisdom on your blog.

Wisdom on my Blog? YES there is and I thank all who comment here for that wisdom! Because the owner of this blog is simpleminded and in need of all the wisdom he can get! hahaha!

Thanks Bruce

Yup, that is so true.

Makes you wonder if there was an agenda in hiding Thomas' gospel for so long, huh? ;)

There was probably all kinds of agendas that surrounded the decision of what went into and what stayed out of the canon. By the way, the word canon means..."an ecclesiastical rule or law".

Maybe that is the whole problem. They made a new law that has been condemning and confusing us every since. We keep listening to the law makers rather than the God within.

.....the God who exchanged LIFE for law.

Diana, I love your take on all this. So refreshing!

Steve... "God exchanged life for law". Man that catholic dude with the crackers wants to know what you're smokin!

I see you found the gospel of Thomas.....pretty interesting stuff, eh? Chaplain Roy once said that you can find Truth everywhere. I now firmly believe that. GOT is only one of a vast collection of works banned by the church and kept from the canon. Many of which contain various measures of Truth. Why do I say truth? Because in my search for truth, those works led me to the "real" gospel.......

Hi Bro.
It has nothing to do with your post. But I need to email you something and I lost your contact details completely. David (Switzerland)

Man, that is very similar to what I am reading.

Wow- deep words! Beautiful!! Thanks for sharing this quote. :o)
I've always wondered why these other gospels didn't make it into the Biblical canon? Anyone know why??

My journey has led me to face myself. To embrace my strengths as well as my weaknesses. Like Diana, I am weary of negativity. I'm no longer rejecting me and constantly trying to redefine myself in hopes that somehow in my dejectedness, I will miraculously become a perfect, shining example of Christianity.

I'm learning to be content to be me and to boldly seek when others tell me to shut-up and just do things the way I'm told. There are many who delight in interpreting the Bible for me and controlling my direction. However, I am comfortable not knowing all the answers and not setting myself up to be anyone's hero. No pedestal for me, thanks. I'm simply a lady on an amazing journey toward God...

Dear T,
YOU ARE ALREADY MIRACULOUSLY PERFECT!
and there was and still is only ONE who was a shining example. He was our Redeemer. It is Him alone that I SEE WHEN I LOOK AT THE WORLD AND ITS INHABITANTS! Therein lies the problem with modern day christianity. They continue to see the world through worldly eyes and not through the Finished Work of The Cross of Jesus.
Paul said he no longer regarded men though worldly eyes but he saw Jesus.
Worldliness is not about behavior. Worldly is seeing and relating to God though what a person thinks, says or does! When we relate to God though what we do then we are "WORLDLY" and Grace is of NO EFFECT!

Peace
Geo
